I’m a Documentary Cinematographer and Producer focused on character-driven, nonfiction storytelling. My work spans international documentaries, editorial films, and branded projects, published by leading global outlets and supported by major fellowships. I bring a journalistic approach, strong visual authorship, and a collaborative on-set presence to every project.

About

For over 10 years Matthew's work has spanned the globe, focusing on intimate documentary storytelling that centers peoples lived experiences. His work has been published by National Geographic, TIME magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Sunday Times Magazine, Der Spiegel, Le Monde, and many others. His work has earned awards in Photography of the Year International,  The American Society of Media Photographers, and his work documenting the protests in San Antonio remains in the permanent collection at The Wittliff Collections in Texas. In 2017 Matthew was awarded a year-long Fulbright Research Grant to document and photograph urban migrant communities in Mumbai, India. 

Matthew, born and raised in Texas, holds bachelor degrees from the University of Missouri Journalism School and the Danish School of Media and Journalism, and a Master's Degree in Documentary Film from the University of California Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism.
